In case you haven’t already heard, the new, 29,000-square-foot Woodward Riviera Maya indoor lifestyle and action sports center opened recently at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya just south of downtown Playa del Carmen and just north of Puerto Aventuras, cementing the Mexican Caribbean region’s status as a top adventure destination.
“Camp Woodward Riviera Maya boasts a variety of programs for all ages, catering to all skill levels, as well as endless opportunities for team building activities within groups or meetings”, wrote AIC Hotel Group in a press release. “The facility sets an entirely new standard of the all-inclusive experience, allowing guests to participate in a variety of program sessions, such as skateboarding, BMX, scooter, cheer, dance, tumbling, parkour and free running, in addition to indoor dryland snowboarding and skiing”.
Situated about one hour south of the Cancun International Airport, Woodward lies just a few miles from the beach near the Hard Rock Hotel and it is the brand’s first international facility. It's location close to Cancun, downtown Playa del Carmen and the exclusive gated community of Puerto Aventuras ensures that visitors from throughout the region will enjoy easy access to Woodward Riviera Maya, which is already attracting sports enthusiasts from around the world.
The entire Mexican Caribbean region is home to the best beaches in the world, as well as some of the finest income producing property and best vacation rental market. To celebrate the grand opening, Woodward recently hosted a street demo and a classic vert demo was also held outside, where greats like Tony Hawk, Andy Mac, Neal Hendrix and others skated to the delight of onlookers.
The facility also features a number of local coaches in every discipline, each selected by longtime Woodward instructor Shelby Snyder and on hand to help anyone progress beyond the basics to master jaw-dropping tricks. Don’t let this scare you off, however; all skill levels are welcome and introductory group sessions are also available.
Woodward Riviera Maya also houses an exciting interactive digital media space, where GoPro cameras are rented to digitally record participants as they experience the facility. Access to a few of the offerings will be available to Hard Rock guests via resort credits, but anyone can participate for a fee.
“Between activities, guests can take a break at the snack bar or on the viewing promenades where family and friends can gather to watch the action or enjoy live DJ sessions", wrote Travel Weekly. “The outside of the facility will feature the Woodward WreckTangle ninja obstacle challenge, designed to ignite spatial awareness, athleticism, agility and amusement while encouraging guests to strategically move through challenging obstacles such as the ‘Rope Swing to Cargo Crawl’ and ‘Rotating Rings’.”
Woodward’s location just south of Cancun and the best Playa del Carmen real estate, and just north of Puerto Aventuras, means this new attraction is also close to other adventure opportunities, such as kayaking in the Mexican Caribbean sea coves, exploring ancient Mayan ruins, deep sea fishing, swimming in freshwater cenotes and so much more!
