Mexico Wins Big at This Year’s Global Reader's Choice Awards

The annual awards include 78 different categories and are presented to industry leaders who have paved the way in either product, destination or service during the previous year.

According to TW, the winners are selected in two rounds of voting and represent the travel industry’s “best of the best” in a variety of different airline, car rental, hospitality, rail, education, tour cruise, destination and theme park sectors. Read on to see where Mexico received recognition! 

Best Places to Visit in Mexico

Situated on the Mexican Caribbean coast on the Yucatan Peninsula’s eastern side, the Riviera Maya region won its 15th consecutive Readers’ Choice Award for Mexico this year as “Best in Destinations”, solidifying its status as one of the world’s top vacation destinations and the best place to visit in the country. 

“It is an honor to continue being acknowledged for the unwavering popularity of the Riviera Maya”, stated the Director of the region’s Tourism Board, Darío Flota. “As an international tourism leader, we’re delighted to be recognized once again for the longevity of such an iconic destination and the hard work of our tourism sector”.

According to the Quintana Roo Tourism Board, the Mexican Caribbean received more than 1.6 million visitors – and more than $1.7 billion USD – during the 2018 summer vacation period.
