The festival is supported by the National Council for Culture and Arts(CONACULTA),in conjunction with the Department of Culture of Quintana Roo and the Municipality of Solidarity through the Department of Culture.
The City Theatre of Playa del Carmen opened in August to serve as a permanent home for the Symphony Orchestra of Quintana Roo,along with a number of other artists, poets, actors and members of the artistic community.
Situated just south of Cancun in the heart of Mexico’s Riviera Maya,Playa del Carmen is a vibrant international community that is set against a pristine backdrop that includes the crystal turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and the lush tropical jungle of the Yucatan Peninsula. The area is quickly making a name for itself as a top destination for cultural tourism, with easy access to ancient Mayan ruins, traditional colonial towns, innovative underwater art installations and the only permanent Cirque du Soleil theater in Mexico.
