Foodies rejoice! Cabo San Lucas will host the 9th Annual Flavors of Cabo Food & Wine Festival from Nov. 30-Dec. 6,2014,which features some of the finest international chefs in one of the world’s best vacation destinations.
“This highly anticipated gastronomic event is expected to be the largest since the festival’s debut in 2005,” writes Luxury Travel Magazine. “For the first time in its history,the event will also include a weeklong series of ticketed events highlighting the renowned regional cuisine of Baja California Sur and the wines of Mexico’s celebrated Baja wine region.”
Guests from around the world are invited to take part in Flavors of Cabo (known as Sabor a Cabo in Spanish),dining in one of the world’s most stunning locales as top culinary masters prepare a variety of dishes to sample. World-renowned chefs that are confirmed to attend include Federico Zanellato of NOMA in Denmark; Richard Sandoval,a chef and restaurateur with more than 35 restaurants worldwide,including Pampano and Zengo in New York City; Dieter Koshina of Portugal’s Vilajoya Restaurant; Roberto Alcocer of Malva Restaurant in Ensenada,Mexico; Najat Kaanache,chef and partner at Piripi Miami Spanish Basque Restaurant; Thierry Blouet of Restaurant de Los Artistas in Puerto Vallarta,Mexico; and Eduardo Osuna,founder of the nonprofit organization Chef to the Rescue in Mexico.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the world’s best chefs to Los Cabos for the 9th Annual Sabor a Cabo event,” shared Eduardo Segura,managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. “Our destination has a rich and booming culinary scene that many people are still discovering.”
The Flavors of Cabo festival will kick off with a Countryside Taste event from 1-5 p.m. Nov. 30,which will feature dished prepared from 100 percent local Baja California Sur ingredients that are all prepared by visiting chefs. Next,a Sunset Gourmet Gala will be held aboard a luxurious yacht Dec. 2,featuring a gourmet dinner prepared by Michelin Star chefs,followed by Oktobeerfest Dec. 3 that will showcase artisanal beer,local cuisine and music.
Visitors can also attend a Wine & art Walk in the historic center of San Jose Del Cabo Dec. 4,which will feature small bites and wine provided by 16 wineries,art galleries and restaurants. Then,a number of world-famous chefs will gather for the Star Chef Dine-Around Dec. 6,serving up unforgettable culinary delights,including appetizers and full meals,each accompanied by excellent wines from Mexico that have been carefully selected for this evening.
The main event will take place from 5-11 p.m. Dec. 6 at the scenic Sculpture Garden in Puerto Los Cabos,which is home to a marina art walk adorned with original sculptures by Leonora Carrington. Here,guests will enjoy amazing and innovative edible creations prepared especially for the event by attending chefs,who are on hand to share their signature dishes.
Funds raised by the Flavors of Cabo Food & Wine Festival will benefit local firefighters,the Los Cabos Children Foundation and the Red Cross. General admission tickets are $100 if purchased prior to Sept. 30 and $125 if purchased after. Tickets including access to a special lounge area are available for $150,and VIP table tickets are $1,000 per person.
