From March 13-16 the third annual Cancun-Riviera Maya Wine and Food Festival will host 25 internationally renowned chefs along with representatives from 50 wineries around the world. As one of the region’s most popular events, this year more than 30 events are scheduled, including wine tastings, chef demonstrations, ten-course meals and a variety of sample dishes, offering everything from traditional Mayan fare to the latest trends in gastronomy.
The theme is “Vive la France!,” featuring celebrity French chef Daniel Boulud as the guest of honor. Boulud will be joined by famed Mexican celebrity chef Guillermo Gonzalez Beristain of Monterrey, along with a wide variety of celebrated chefs from Canada, the United States, the UK, Brazil, Mexico Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Peru and Venezuela.
Featured events this year include an opening dinner Thursday titled,“Taste the New World: Star Chefs of the Americas,” along with a sold out private gourmet experience to be held the same day at the Restaurante Benazuza, which is located in Cancun’s Oasis Sens Resort. In addition, a variety of wine and spirits tastings will be guided by attending sommeliers, including Veronique Rivest and Elyse Lambert, who are considered to be among the world’s best.
Many of the resorts in Cancun,Playa del Carmen and other locations throughout the Riviera Maya will offer special guest packages for festival attendees. This year, Secrets The Vine Cancun will serve as the official host hotel, while other sponsors include Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine, Porsche and the Hotel Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach. One of the festival’s most anticipated events is the Gourmet Tasting Village, which will be held March 15-16 at the 2,000-plus square meter Moon Palace Arena, featuring a sampling of the most popular dishes from the Riviera Maya’s best restaurants.

Celebrity chefs will be on hand at the Tasting Village to test their skills against the world’s best competition in a number of educational cooking challenges that are open to festival attendees on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16. A variety of kid-friendly activities will also be available and open to families with children of all ages.
