A Journey Into Paradise

Playa del Carmen Real Estate Offers Affordable Luxury Living

19 January, 2014

The laid-back resort town of Playa del Carmen lies along Mexico’s Caribbean coast on the Yucatan Peninsula and provides access to affordable, luxurious beach living the likes of which can’t be found anywhere else in the world. With first-rate amenities such as English-speaking movie theaters, excellent restaurants,a vibrant night life and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Isn’t it time you came to see for yourself what all the fuss is about?

Playa del Carmen – or Playa,as the locals like to call it – was once just a simple fishing village where tourists could pick up the ferry to the popular island of Cozumel, which lies offshore. But today,Playa has become a popular resort town in its own right, having been named the fastest-growing destination in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2006,with thousands of tourists now drawn to its stunning white sand beaches each year.

Playa del Carmen real estate is also home to a growing community of expats who come from around the world to live here either full time or part time. As a result of the area’s growing popularity,Playa’s population has grown rapidly, with more than 150,000 permanent residents. Regardless, real estate here still offers excellent value for the money, with a variety of one and two-bedroom condos near the beach available for around $200,000,or less if you’re willing to be a little bit farther from the ocean.

Many expats who live in Playa part time rent out their condos when they are not in town to make extra income. With rentals averaging around $450 per week, this can draw in a nice chunk of change each month.

While in town, you will enjoy access to plenty of local fruit and vegetables, sold at stands throughout town for just a fraction of what you have been used to paying back home. And don’t worry if you haven’t learned to speak Spanish – most of the locals speak good enough English. Playa also has several large supermarkets that carry everything you are used to seeing back home,in addition to household appliances, auto supplies, gardening equipment and much more.

There are also plenty of familiar brands from the U.S. throughout Playa, including Wal-Mart,Sam’s Club,Starbuck’s,Sears,Home Depot,AMC and more. And Playa is known for its excellent entertainment options, which includes fabulous cuisine that ranges from simple roadside taco stands to five-star restaurants with world-renowned chefs. In addition,first-run Hollywood films typically open in Playa at the same time that they do in the U.S.,but here you can expect to pay only $3-$5 per person.

Perhaps best of all, however, are Playa del Carmen’s beaches, which are absolutely free! And thanks to the area’s warm tropical climate, you can enjoy all the Caribbean has to offer year round, including swimming, sailing, water skiing, parasailing, fishing, diving and more.
