News for Cancun Real Estate: Family-Friendly Activities in Cancun,Mexico

19 January, 2014

Cancun has long been hailed as the place to go in Mexico for a thriving nightlife and luxurious accommodations, but it is also a family-friendly city with much to offer for couples with children. With excellent weather and fabulous beaches, coupled with a wide variety of parks and historical destinations, there is truly something for everyone. In fact, what makes Cancun and the surrounding region is SO unique is the combination of the warm turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean, coupled with the rich cultural history of the Riviera Maya.

One of the most popular ways for families to experience this fabulous setting is to plan a snorkeling trip. Cancun is located close to the Great Mesoamerican Reef, which is the second-largest reef in the entire world. This means the region has some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world, but for families with kids, snorkeling is typically the best option. Nearby Isla Mujeres and Punta Cancun both provide the opportunity to view a wide variety of colorful fish, including the exotic parrotfish.

Cancun is also home to several fabulous ecological theme parks, the most popular of which is Xcaret. Here, families can spend the day swimming in the underground river, watching wildlife and exploring the lush jungle environment. In the evenings, there are often fun live shows put on to entertain young children,so plan ahead to enjoy the perfect ending to a fun-filled day.

No visit to Cancun would be complete without a trip to the ancient Chichen Itza ruins, which allow you to get up close to the ancient Mayan civilization that ruled the area for thousands of years. A UNESCO World Heritage site,Chichen Itza is home to the impressive Temple of Kukulcan, the Great Ball Court and the Temple of the Warriors. At just over 100 miles from Cancun,it can be tough for families with very young children, but luckily there are a number of other smaller archaeological sites much closer that will also be fun to explore.

Regardless of how you choose to spend your time while in Cancun real estate, there are plenty of options that will appeal to the entire family,so plan accordingly and enjoy all that this diverse region has to offer.
