Each year in early January the dance music world descends on the beach town of Playa del Carmen,Mexico,to enjoy ten days and nights of non-stop music and parties. Visitors from more than 60 international destinations attended this year’s festival,which was held from Jan 3 through 12 and marked the event’s seventh anniversary.
This year,Playa’s BPM Festival featured more than 350 international artists and 70 events in 9 different venues around town. Situated in the heart of Mexico’s stunning Riviera Maya,just south of Cancun,Playa del Carmen is the ideal location for what Fest 300 Magazine dubbed “the most happening dance music event of the New Year!”
Artists in attendance included a wide variety of different heavy hitters from the house and techno music scenes,including Richhie Hawtin,John Digweed,Sasha,Lee Foss and Infinity Ink,along with names like Apollonia,Jamie Jones,Art Department and Maceo Plex. In addition,many of the performances were broadcast via a live stream online from venues throughout Playa,including Blue Parrot Night Club,Coco Maya Night Club,Mamita’s Beach Club,Tabu,Kool Beach Club,Lost Avenue and Fusion Beach Club.

The BPM Festival is just one of Playa’s many annual music traditions. Each year in early December,Jazz enthusiasts from around the world also enjoy access to an exceptional array of artists from this unique musical genre at the Riviera Maya International Jazz Festival.
