A Journey Into Paradise

Akumal Beach: A Diver’s Paradise

30 July, 2013

Looking for sheltered, tranquil white sand beach, live coral reef, ocean wildlife and great food all in one place? Akumal,Riviera Maya is the place.

Akumal’s reef has been a destination for snorkelers and divers for many years. The reef acts as a barrier from the Caribbean Sea. This calm lagoon is home to many different varieties of sea life. On one recent trip,I saw a school of cuttlefish,a huge barracuda, lion fish, parrot fish, sergeant fish and endless other types of reef fish that I had never seen before. Akumal is also a sea turtle sanctuary and in fact, many would say that you are guaranteed to see at least one turtle on your excursion. The day I went with my family we saw four beautiful turtles!

The reef itself has many different types of coral ranging from Brain Coral,Stag’s Head Coral or a number of others.   Some looked like huge Oyster Mushrooms and others were sky blue.

What do you do when you are finished with your snorkeling adventure? Well relax on the white sands of Akumal beach of course! It is a perfect place for children because there are minimal waves and rocks; and it is waist deep even one hundred feet out.  Now that you have been on a snorkeling adventure and had a rest on the white sand beach, what’s next?

Grab a bite to eat and have one of those famous Caribbean cocktails at Lol-Ha Restaurant is the place to go. Lol-Ha has all of the Mexican specialties you love- Fresh Ceviche,Guacamole and Chips,Salbutes and great Tortas. They cater to all with their extensive menu that includes many American favorites such as great Hot Dogs,Pizza,Hamburgers and Cobb Salad. Sounds like a perfect day out right?  Why not let me,Susana MacDonald, show you a beachfront lot in Akumal to build your dreamhouse?
