Hotels throughout Mexico are once again attracting a massive amount of international attention for their outstanding customer service,luxurious amenities,accessibility,safety and stunning locations. Most recently,a number of hotels in Cabo San Lucas,Playa del Carmen,Puerto Vallarta and Cancun have been awarded a variety of prestigious travel awards in recognition of their commitment to excellence and exceptional value.
Cabo San Lucas
Expedia has once again named the world’s top 650 hotels,and this year the One & Only Palmilla Resort in Cabo San Lucas has earned the number one spot on the exclusive list,which also includes five other Mexico destinations in the top ten. The One & Only Palmilla is a five-star property that has earned the highest possible rating from Expedia customers,in addition to several 2013 Readers’ Choice awards from both Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure so far this year. In addition,the Welk Resort Sirena del Mar in Cabo has earned the number seven spot on Expedia’s distinguished list and was given an impressive four stars for its overall high level of customer service and outstanding value. Previously,the Sirena del Mar also won a 2012 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award.
Also in Cabo,the Pueblo Bonito Resort has been named the #1 Best Hotel for Families in 2013,according to a survey completed by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine. The resort offers a variety of ways to keep children safe and entertained so parents can enjoy plenty of time to relax,which can help take the stress out of family vacations.
The last property in Cabo San Lucas to receive an award recently is the Hacienda Encantada,which has been awarded with a 2013 Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor. The resort has also maintained 4-Diamond status with AAA and is known for its spa and romantic location atop a cliff overlooking the Sea of Cortez.
The Casa Velas Hotel Boutique & Beach Club in Puerto Vallarta came in at number eight on Expedia’s latest ranking of the world’s best hotels. Casa Velas has also maintained 4-Diamond status with AAA since 2007 and received two 2012 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards.
Playa del Carmen
Playa also earned a spot on Expedia’s list of the world’s top 650 hotels,with the Banyan Tree Mayakoba coming in at number four. This world-class facility is located in the Riviera Maya,just 40 minutes south of the Cancun International Airport and was also recognized by the 2012 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards as one of the world’s best hotels.
Also in Playa,TripAdvisor recently awarded the El Taj Oceanfront & Beachside Condo Hotel,the Maya Villa Hotel & Beach Club,the Villas Sacbe Condo Hotel & Beach Club and the Porto Playa Condo Hotel & Beach Club with the exclusive 2013 Certificate of Excellence award,placing Playa del Carmen real estate in the spotlight and these four properties within the top 10 percent of all hotel businesses worldwide.
“To win the award,hotels must maintain a consistent rating of four or five out of five based on user reviews in a variety of areas,including hospitality,décor and excellence,among other criteria,” writes Condo Hotels Playa del Carmen in a press release. “Only 10 percent of all businesses listed on [the TripAdvisor website] are awarded this certificate."
For the El Taj,this recent accolade is one of many,including “Best of the Best” from Frommer’s Travel Guide in 2012 and Travelers’ Choice 2013. In addition,this marks the second year in a row that Porto Playa earned the Certificate of Excellence and a “Best of the Best” award from Frommer’s,while the Maya Villa resort previously earned two awards from TripAdvisor in 2012 and is currently ranked fourth on the website’s list of the top 25 small hotels throughout all of Mexico.
Finally,the Ritz-Carlton in Cancun has achieved 5-Diamond status from AAA once again in 2013. With an impressive three restaurants and four hotels achieving AAA 5-Diamond status once again this year,properties in Cancun have officially earned more awards than any other destination in Mexico.
