Eight Mexican mariachi musicians played for a victorious Mark Wilson at the PGA
Riviera Maya Mayakoba Golf Classic yesterday.
Wilson was joint leader
after the second and third rounds and then went ahead on the second hole
yesterday. Despite windy conditions,he held on through the back nine to secure
the second PGA Tour win of his career.
"Holes that we saw earlier in the
week hitting 3-wood and 8-iron into,we were hitting driver and 3-wood into,"
Wilson told AP news,"it was definitely a different challenge."
of tournament sponsor OHL,Juan Miguel Villar Mir,told AP he's hopeful that
within two years this tournament will get its own weekend on the PGA calendar,
instead of sharing dates with the World Golf Championships Match Play
The Mayakoba Golf Classic
at Riviera Maya-Cancun had a purse of $3,600,000 and a total of 1,759 FedExCup
Points. It was played at the El Camaleon course.
