A Journey Into Paradise

Riviera Maya Film Festival Comes Back to Cancun Real Estate in 2013

22 April, 2013

Last year the Riviera Maya Film Festival was a huge success, bringing more than 21,000 people to Mexico and Cancun real estate, where nearly 70 movies were shown over the course of seven days. This year, the event promises to draw an even larger crowd, with even more films shown at six different locations throughout the Riviera Maya region.

Planned for April 21 through 27,the festival will include venues in Cancun,Isla Holbox,Playa del Carmen,Puerto Morelos and Tulum. In the Riviera Maya, world famous white sand beaches stretch for miles upon miles, while a variety of different resorts provide luxurious surroundings and plenty of adventure for visitors of all ages. Popular activities in the area include swimming with sea turtles in Akumal and checking out the ancient Mayan ruins in Tulum,Coba and Xcaret.

This year nearly 80 movies will be shown, including those featuring major stars Vanessa Hudgens,Charlie Sheen,Bill Murray and Patricia Arquette,to name only a few. In addition, the people and ancestral culture of Mexico’s Riviera Maya will be central to the festivities, which will display “the geography of imagination at a continental scale.”

“Having more exhibition spots and more charge-free projections,we will accomplish our goal to bring the best selection of quality national and international films to a larger number of people,” stated Paula Chaurand, general director of the Riviera Maya Film Festival.

The festival hopes to continue growing each year, promoting and encouraging new projects that will enrich Mexico’s culture and the nation’s role in film. By incorporating the use of both indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the Riviera Maya, festival organizers hope it will become an important meeting point for eco-awareness and high-quality films. Special galas, film screenings, exhibitions and other industry-related activities will take place all week long, with special events planned at natural locations and beach clubs.
