Riviera Maya Real Estate To Host Annual Wine & Food Festival

Travel Weekly and the LA Times are raving about the upcoming 2013 Cancun-Riviera Maya Wine & Food Festival,which will be held from March 14th through the 17th. This annual festival has become one of the region’s most popular events in recent years,thanks to its impressive lineup of events and celebrity chefs. This year,the events will be held at a variety of locations throughout Riviera Maya real estate and Cancun,including haciendas,yachts,archaeological sites and the El Dorado Royale,a Karisma spa and resort,as well as the Hotel Grand Velas and Paradissus Playa del Carmen. The festivities will be co-sponsored by American Express.

“Under the theme,‘Europe Meets the Americas,’ the festival will celebrate Italy and feature a cooking competition between chef Massimo Bottura of the three-star Michelin restaurant Osteria in Modena,Italy and Mexican chef Enrique Olvera of Pujol restaurant in Mexico City,” writes Travel Weekly.

More than 30 other culinary events will also take place during the festival,including a mescal tasting with master sommelier Doug Frost,cooking demos with a variety of renowned celebrity chefs,wine tastings,a tasting and tribute to Massimo Bottura and a Cancun-Riviera Maya tasting that will feature a prix fixe gourmet menu that includes signature dishes from 20 of the region’s most popular restaurants.

“The region is becoming a Mecca for culinary enthusiasts,” writes the LA Times. “Local chefs have developed a fusion of traditional and contemporary,indigenous and international cuisine. The festival is a great way to showcase Riviera Maya’s diverse dining scene as well as the immense talent and anthology of international tastes that come together in the region.”

Proceeds from the festival will reportedly benefit the local Ciudad de la Alegria nonprofit organization,which works to help disadvantaged children,victims of violence and the elderly. Confirmed chefs include Mark Ladner,Marc Vetri,Fabio Trabocchi,Jared Reardon,Jerome Ferrer and Jean-Marc Huillot. Sommeliers will include Doug Frost,Elyse Lambert and Veronique Rivest. Ticket prices range from as low as $60 to $600 for special themed packages.
