The Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced that a variety of different popular and award-winning artists will be in town to help visitors and residents alike ring in the new year and celebrate the end of the Mayan calendar.
Celebrations include appearances by seven-time Grammy Award-winning singer Usher,international DJ sensations David Guetta,Deadmau5,Steve Aoki,Nero and many more,as well as leading Mexican composer Armando Manzanero.
Usher is scheduled to perform Dec. 29 at the all-inclusive Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort. Guests who book five nights or more will receive two complimentary tickets to his performance.
David Guetta,who was named the “World’s Greatest DJ” by DJ Magazine,will help partygoers ring in the new year at Mamitas Beach Club,just a few miles south of Cancun in Playa del Carmen on Dec. 31. Other renowned DJ performances will be held Jan. 2 at the Beto Avila Stadium in Cancun real estate,which will host the Alive Music Festival. Deadmau5,Steve Aoki,Nero,Feed Me and Chris Lake are all scheduled to perform.
DJ Tiesto will also perform Jan. 2 at Mamitas Beach Club,followed by Playa’s Sixth Annual BPM Festival,from Jan. 4 to 13. Danny Tanaglia,Heidi,Luca Bacchetti,Mr. C and Pillowtalk are just a few of the artists scheduled to perform.
Finally,the Cancun CVB approached the recent “end of the world” phenomenon with its characteristic positive attitude,working with officials in nearby Punta Sur,Isla Mujeres,to bring in Armando Manzanero,who is one of Mexico’s most popular romantic composers. He gave a concert to celebrate the passing of an era Dec. 21,which marks the end of an ancient Mayan calendar. The performance was part of an evening-long celebration that began Dec. 20 and lasted until daybreak.
