According to a report published this December in Travel Weekly, the JW Marriott Cancun and the Casa Magna Marriott Cancun have had a ‘turnaround year’ in 2012. Although the properties have had consistently high occupancy rates due to the steady popularity of Cancun real estate as one of the world’s top vacation destinations, the spike in visitors this year is due in part to the growing number of international travelers who are coming in droves to experience all that the local Mayan culture has to offer.
“This has been a great year, and 2013 will be even better, based on our advance bookings,” stated Chris Calabrese, who is the general manager of both Cancun JW Marriott properties, according to Travel Weekly. “The JW Marriott Cancun and the Casa Magna Marriott Cancun seized upon the opportunities this year, generated by the interest in Mayan culture,to drive attention to our properties with special promotions throughout the year.”
Promotions offered at the resorts this year have included free nights, free resort services and tour incentives that tie in Cancun’s deep Maya connection. In addition,Travel Weekly reported that the recent opening of Cancun’s Maya Museum has done much to encourage even more interest from the international travel community, especially due to the coming Maya calendar change, which will happen Dec. 21.
Both of Cancun’s Marriott resorts boast nearly 450 rooms and are designed in the European,or ‘room only’ floor plan, with an all-inclusive option available for groups.
“The fact that we are European plan hotels sets us apart from the others,” stated Calabrese. “We do not decrease service levels,no matter which room category is booked. Our service is consistent, our occupancy high and demand continues to increase.”
The JW has received the distinguished AAA Five Diamond Award for seven consecutive years and is the only Marriot property in the world to have earned that honor in 2012. Similarly,in 2012 the Casa Magna has once again received the AAA Four Diamond award for the 20th year in a row.
Rates this winter are under $300 per night for double occupancy at the JW,while comparable accommodations at the Casa Magna are from less than $225.
