Travel Weekly reported last week that the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen is set to reopen Dec. 1,2012. The grand reopening follows an extensive,$20 million renovation of its more than 430 guest rooms,as well as the resort’s public and outdoor spaces.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the hotel’s colonial exterior, but a new spa and several new restaurants were added, including the Guacamole steakhouse, the La Dolce Vita Italian eatery and the La Bodega Mexican restaurant. The beachfront property also boasts a newly expanded gym,a swim-up bar located at one of the pools,a café and complimentary WiFi throughout the resort, including in all of the guest rooms.
The rooms have all received a facelift with new furniture and fabric, keeping with a mostly white décor to create a clean, natural look. Each of the bathrooms now features a double sink,a hydromassage bath and a separate shower cubicle. Although the Don Julian buffet and the Miyagi Japanese restaurant were established prior to the renovation, they have each received a facelift and appear to be more chic and modern than ever before.
The Riu Palace Mexico is located on a prime piece of Playa del Carmen real estate and lies along an exceptional stretch of oceanfront property. Thanks to the renovation, the entire landscape surrounding the hotel has a feeling of modern sophistication, including the gardens and the decks, which are found around the pools and other areas of the property.
With four freshwater pools,a children’s pool and direct access to the warm, tranquil waters of the Mexican Caribbean sea, this property has everything a couple or a family with children could want or need while on vacation. There is even a Riu Land kid’s club to help keep children busy and out of trouble while mom and dad relax by the pool or ocean. Come see for yourself why Playa has been one of the fastest growing towns in Latin America over the last decade!
