Puerto Vallarta Real Estate: Festival Cultural de Mayo

The city of Puerto Vallarta will
celebrate its 93rd year during the Festival Cultural de Mayo on May 18th-28th,
2011. This annual celebration will include cultural events,music,dance and
theatrical performances,film screenings,photo and art exhibitions,parades
and fireworks.

For this celebration,downtown
Puerto Vallarta will fill the streets with various kinds of local,national and
international artists,including musicians,actors,painters,sculptors,and
more,who will perform for the public,exhibiting their talents and
skills.  Parque Hidalgo,or Hidalgo
Park,is located in the heart of the city and is the central point of the
festivities. The park features an underground parking area,while above ground
the visitors will find shaded ramadas,park benches and a cooling fountain in
the performance areas.  Although
most of the events are in the downtown area,other municipalities will also be
hosting special events during the festival run.  Among the list of attractions are bullfights,cockfights and
live performances. 

Most of the events are free and
open to the public.  On Wednesday,
May 18th there is a photography exhibit by Colegio de Fotografía de Occidente
that will be located on the patio of the Presidencia,and will run through May
28th. Thursday,May 19th,will open with the Municipal Choir,which will be
followed by a presentation of "Voces del Alma" from Guadalajara at
8:15 pm.

On Friday,May 20th,the Municipal
Theatre Group will perform Letters to the Divine Prisoner at the Centro
Cultural Cuale at 8 pm.  Also,ICAT
productions will showcase children’s theatre,which is scheduled to perform "The
Princesses" that day.

Saturday,May 21st will feature an
Algeciras Project presentation of Rumba,Flamenco dancing and a variety of
vocal performance,while contemporary dance will be presented on Wednesday,May
25th,by Adriana Quinto. 
"Fragments of Carmen" is an Opera-based choreography piece
that will also be performed on the 25th.

Thursday,May 26th is Local Talent
Night. Come see popular acoustic rock and indie pop/rock band called AQSTI-K
and the Jorge Aguilera Band at Parque Hidalgo,or check out the Municipal
Folklore Group Xiutla on Friday,May 27th.  Also,a multi-disciplinary exhibition will be held at Luna Sureste,located in the Plaza Península,which will consist of music,photography,wine
and food,and is designed to be enjoyed by the whole family.

The closing event on Saturday,
May 28th has the RADAID Group presenting world music and rhythms at Parque
Hidalgo and the Alternative Youth: Closing Fiesta Electronics by Martin
Parra.  Mr. Parra is known as one
of the greatest DJs from Mexico,and today he travels nonstop throughout
Europe.  Also,at the same time,a
Film Festival showing of "A Celebration of Life" will be at the
Cinemark Plaza Caracol.

Post-festival highlights include
the annual Memorial Parade,which is considered to be one of the major highlights
of Festival Cultural de Mayo.  It
is a celebration in which the entire population is invited to participate and
will take place this year on Sunday,May 29th. Also,on May 31st awards will be
presented to the city's outstanding citizens by local government officials and
a huge cake will be distributed among all those attending.  Afterward,there will be a breathtaking
fireworks display in the main plaza,which is a surefire way to close the 2011
Fiestas de Mayo with a bang.
