The Presidente InterContinental Resort & Spa hosted 100 plus golfers at its 3rd Annual Cozumel Island Golf Tournament in late May. More than 100 golfers from the United States,South America and Mexico were in attendance at the tournament located within beautiful Cozumel real estate. CNN Sports Anchor Diego Bustos and actor Dennis Haysbert were among the group of renowned international golfers who participated in the weekend-long event.
A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will go to support the Community Foundation of Cozumel,which aims to elevate the community’s standard of living by introducing a number of progressive new social programs.
Participants at the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort’s golf tournament were also treated to a number of fun outside activities that were designed to accompany the actual golf tournament. These festivities included golf contests,an initiatory cocktail reception and the closing night’s award ceremony,which took place in the facility's magnificent open-air palapa overlooking the sparkling Caribbean Sea.
Eduardo Suarez and Rafael Diaz were celebrated as the Men’s tournament winners and Jacqueline Rosado took first place in the ladies’ portion of the tournament. First,second and third place prizes were also awarded for achieving Closest to the Pin,Longest Drive and Putting.
The Cozumel Country Club boasts a 6,734-yard,par 72 course layout that was designed by The Nicklaus Design Group. The designers stayed true to an architectural vision that places specific emphasis on ecological preservation of the location’s precious natural surroundings. Their goal was to work as sensitively as possible with the mangrove marshlands and tropical rainforests that surround the resort. The course at the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort was specially designed to fulfill the requirements for championship golf tournaments,while leaving nature as pure and intact as possible. At the same time,players of every skill level are assured a healthy challenge on this course.
