Hartwood Restaurant – A Favorite for Tulum Real Estate

magazine,Hartwood restaurant in Tulum,Mexico is a favorite among
visitors and residents alike. When owners Mya Henry and Eric Werner visited
Tulum for some much needed R&R,they loved it so much that they decided to
stay and open a restaurant of their own. It's easy to see why; Mexico's Yucatan
Peninsula is known worldwide for its stunning,crystal clear turquoise water,
excellent climate and laid-back atmosphere.

Since mid-2010,Hartwood has been
growing in popularity,thanks to its menu of freshly prepared local items,most
of which are prepared either on the grill or in a wood-burning oven. This
open-fire approach allows for a high level of creativity and nicely complements
the fresh fish that is often on the menu. In fact,there are no induction
burners,no ovens and no walls at their open-air kitchen,which the couple
built themselves in their gorgeous spot within Tulum
real estate
.

Previously,Werner has worked at the
popular New York City restaurant Vinegar Hill House,and later at Peasant in
Brooklyn,which are both known for their wood-fired creations. Here,his menu
is heavily influenced by the local produce and meats of Mexico,but still
contains a distinct New York flair. Most of the produce and meat that is served
is purchased directly by Werner and Henry at the nearby Mercado Municipal in
Valladolid,which guarantees that the fish is never more than just a few hours
away from being pulled out of the ocean.

Menu staples include grilled pork belly
served with pineapple,grilled watermelon served over a salad of pea sprouts,
pickled radishes and queso fresco. In addition,Werner commonly serves up a
whole grilled fish that has been scored in the traditional Mexican style,which
means including lots of olive oil and local herbs. What this amounts to is a
never ending supply of unique,flavorful ingredients that incorporate just the
right amount of spice and smoke to keep the palate entertained.
