British billionaire retail magnate Sir Philip Green has chosen to spend his 60th birthday in Mexico’s gorgeous Riviera Maya with some of today’s hottest stars. Green flew 150 guests hailing from London and Miami to Playa del Carmen’s idyllic Rosewood Mayakoba five-star resort this week for a four-day bash that is reported to cost $25 million.
Masterminded by Lady Tina Green, the party is also a celebration for their daughter Chloe, who turns 21. Performers Rihanna,Bruno Mars and Stevie Wonder are scheduled to perform at the event at a cost of more than $4.5 million, and the guest list reportedly includes Gwyneth Paltrow,Kate Moss,Leonardo DiCaprio and Simon Cowell,in addition to renowned soprano Katherine Jenkins,Iranian property moguls Robbie and Vincent Tchenguiz and Sir David Tang.
Lady Green kept the venue secret from guests prior to arrival, instructing them only to bring passports and warm weather attire. No doubt everyone was pleased to arrive at the 1,600-acre resort, which boasts more than a mile of pristine white sand beach just south of Cancun. With more than 128 suites, the Rosewood Mayakoba is the perfect setting for an A-list affair such as this, offering plenty of activities including private pools, concierge service,24-hour butler service, and a signature Greg Norman 7,000-yard,18-hole golf course that is home to the annual Mayakoba Classic,a US PGA Tour event.
Guests were required to provide their measurements so appropriate dress could be provided, which reportedly includes Spanish-themed costumes. A huge stage was built on the beach for the party’s musical performances, which included a special VIP area up close to the stage. In addition,Pol Roger champagne was served, along with haute cuisine flown in from Japan, while a fireworks display by Fantastic Fireworks was arranged for additional entertainment.
