Working The Waves In Baja California

American Erik McHenry won an exciting battle with the current Mexican surf
champion,Jose M. Trujillo “YucoFlow”,to win the 2009 Rosarito Beach Pro-Am
surf contest in Baja California last weekend.

McHenry had to work the
waves hard and pulled off an elegant 360 that won him the

Julio Quinones,also from Mexico,grabbed third prize,just
beating American surfer Sam Bough to make it onto the podium.

The event
mixed excellent up and coming amateur surfers with some of North America’s best

“It’s awesome that the city of Rosarito is stepping in to
provide both local and international surfers an opportunity to showcase their
talent and win some coin”,said professional surfer,Zach Plopper.

event organizers said the Baja California surf contest is a perfect opportunity
to not only help with the tourism in Rosarito,but to also give another
opportunity to those surfers,professional and amateur,to compete in a
different location.
