Providing yet another assurance that the US is 100% behind Mexico and its cherished relationship with its neighbor to the South, the opening of a new US Consulate office in Cancun has just been celebrated.
Felix Gonzalez,Governor of the State of Quintana Roo,which is home to Cozumel,Tulum,Playa del Carmen and Cancun real estate, emphatically made his point known that this is a clear indication and sign that the United States Government regards Cancun as an area that is "completely secure and calm, where everyone can walk safely."
Gonzalez also made it clear that Quintana Roo and Cancun are not only geographically distant but statistically distant as well. There are 31 States in Mexico, and Quintana Roo is the safest.
Taking note of this fact are the holiday seekers heading to the land of the Riviera Maya in record numbers. There was a more than 20% increase in international travel to Mexico in 2010 and by all indications that number will once again be shattered.
Alfonso Sumano, director of the Americas for the Mexican tourism board said,“There are several reasons why Mexico’s tourism numbers are up,but the strongest reason is the value Mexico delivers.” He went on to say,“In addition to having several of the top sun and beach destinations of the world,Mexico has 30,000 archeological sites, and 110,000 monuments. Many places have one or maybe two of these elements, but only Mexico combines all of them in one destination.”
“We feel these numbers are evidence of the strength and quality of Mexico’s destinations,” said Mexico Secretary of Tourism Gloria Guevara. “Despite all that’s going on in the world today, the traveler knows he or she can come to Mexico and find unique vacation experiences offering not only our famous sun and beach destinations, but the chance for archeological, culinary and artistic experiences as well, 31 UNESCO World Heritage sites too. Mexico is the only place on the earth where you can experience all that in a single trip.”
It is easy to see why Mexico is the number 1 destination for Americans and Canadians seeking good value and good fun for their holiday.
