Mexico Joins Space Race

Mexico will open a space port in the state of Quintana Roo near the border with
Belize,reported the Indo Asian News Service yesterday.

Roo's planning minister,Jose Alberto Alonso Ovando,the news agency said
construction of a space port to send satellites into space will begin this year.

The report said the Mexican National Congress approved the
founding of a Mexican national space agency,Aexa,late last year. The agency's
headquarters will be located in the state of Hidalgo from where it will oversee
launches and space flights.
