Travel Age West Features Tourism Growth & Puerto Vallarta Real Estate

14 February, 2013

According to Travel Age West, tourism hit record numbers in 2012 for Puerto Vallarta,Mexico, with an increase of more than 17 percent in hotel occupancy. The boost was reportedly thanks at least in part to positive publicity resulting from a number of high-profile visitors, including Eva Longoria and various U.S. Olympic medalists.

The continued popularity of Puerto Vallarta real estate among international travelers is also due to the continued efforts of the city to improve its many offerings. Following are a few that were featured recently in the article by Travel Age West.

In late 2012 Puerto Vallarta began offering free weekly tours of its downtown area, led by professional guides each Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. The tour familiarizes visitors with the city’s many galleries, traditional markets, boutiques, restaurants and other points of interest.

Following a $2.4 million makeover,Puerto Vallarta’s historically significant Los Muertos Port has reopened recently and marks an important part of the city’s ongoing downtown renovation projects. The port can now dock up to six excursion boats at one time, providing visitors with easy access to the stunning beaches of Banderas Bay. It is also nicely illuminated at night and provides a smaller docking option in addition to the larger ports in the marina, where international cruise ships can be found.

Old Vallarta’s Romantic Zone also received a boost recently, with the opening of the Los Muertos Brewing Company, which is an open-air,cantina-style pub that offers a wide variety of artisanal craft beers and a full view of the impressive on-site brewery in action. Eclectic pub fare and New York style pizza are also available.

Finally, visitors and residents alike can take advantage of the savings provided by the new Provecho Vallarta initiative, which is an innovative promotional tool designed to support local businesses and bring significant savings to consumers. Retailing at just $24,according to Travel Age West,Provecho Vallarta resembles a deck of playing cards, with each card serving as a 100-peso gift certificate for a local business that is complete with a detailed description of its unique offerings. At an estimated $408 true value, this is a fun way to explore the city’s best dining, shopping and entertainment options at a steep discount.
