Cancun is brimming with excitement for vacationers of all ages, and honeymooners are no exception; a fact that was recently recognized by Scotland’s Edinburgh Evening News. The newspaper featured the “heavenly” experience of a recently married local couple, who opted to stay at the posh,five-star Excellence resort, which is located in the heart of Cancun real estate at Playa Mujeres.
“A part of me was looking forward to my Mexican honeymoon more than my actual wedding day,” gushed newlywed Rachel Williams. “The only decision we wanted to make on our week-long break was whether we ordered champagne at the swim-up pool bar or sipped cocktails on the beach.”
As it turned out,the Excellence resort was the perfect choice for just such a luxurious honeymoon experience. Like many of the properties in Cancun, the resort offers a personal concierge and 24-hour room service, all in an adult-only environment that ensures the ultimate experience in luxury and relaxation.
“Pulling up at the grand gold-gated entrance, just 25 minutes from the airport,we were handed a glass of champagne before being whisked through the sprawling marble lobby, past other new arrivals to our private check in,” shared Williams. “We’d upgraded to the Excellence Club and there were plenty of perks to follow.”
These reportedly included superior toiletries,a private beach and members-only pools,as well as personalized attention from waiters who are expected to remember guests by appearance alone. This attention to detail results in an occupancy rate of “at least 85-95 percent full all year round,” which is a statistic that can be applied to all types of vacation accommodations that are located in Cancun and just south throughout the scenic Riviera Maya.
Other perks offered at the Excellence resort include seven pools, nine restaurants,a two-mile stretch of pristine beach, complimentary champagne and a Jacuzzi in every room. At the swim-up bar, live bands playing Spanish or Jamaican music create a festive mood, with private dinners on the beach also available.
“It’s like traveling around the world in one building,” Williams told the Edinburgh Evening News. “Just a ten-minute taxi ride away from Cancun city,it only cost a few pounds to get to the main strip. By day,it’s great for shopping and water sports. At night, the lights sparkle and the place really comes alive.”
Other highlights from the couple’s Cancun honeymoon experience reportedly included a couple’s massage and a milk mousse bubble bath in the spa of the neighboring Beloved Hotel, along with a romantic Columbus Lobster Dinner Cruise, which takes place on a Spanish galleon and features a fabulous dinner of steak and lobster.
“Tucking into our final meal,we managed to agree on something else,” shared Williams. “That, like all the lovely couples we’d made friends with during our stay in Cancun,we would go back.”
