Travel Weekly and Travel Daily News recently covered some of the newest and best hotels and exclusive resorts that can be found in Mexico’s stunning Riviera Maya, namely the Grand Velas Riviera Maya,The Palm at Playa Lifestyle Beach Hotel and Tulum’s Gardenias Inn.

According to Travel Weekly,The Palm at Playa Lifestyle Beach Hotel opened last November on Playa del Carmen’s luxurious beachfront, within easy walking distance of the city’s famed Quinta Avenue (5th Avenue) shops and restaurants. The hotel features 69 opulent lofts and suites that come equipped with free WiFi and kitchenettes,as well as a chic rooftop terrace that is complete with an in-ground pool.

Travel Weekly also did a write-up on the January 2013 opening of the three-room Gardenias Inn,which is located in Tulum’s chic downtown area. This heavenly slice of Riviera Maya real estate features king beds and a fully stocked mini bar in every room,as well as organic Chiapas coffee and a variety of gourmet teas. Known as a “boutique” property, the small but well-appointed hotel also boasts an outdoor grill area, afternoon hors d’oeuvres, preloaded cell phones and family-style meals in the innkeeper’s kitchen.

Finally,Travel Daily News reported in mid-January that the Grand Velas Riviera Maya has received the coveted AAA Five Diamond Award for the third year in a row. The luxury resort opened in 2008 and has consistently received the maximum award of tourism excellence, which is only given to 120 hotels, out of more than 60,000 properties that are in the running.

“Tony Perrone,Regional Manager at AAA,predicted that this year will see a growth in North American tourism to Mexico and especially to the Riviera Maya, attracted by top luxury hotels like Velas Resorts,” writes Travel Daily News. “The future is brilliant for tourism to Mexico.”
