Mexico’s Riviera Maya Makes List of Top 10 Spring Travel Destinations

13 September, 2012

Last month a report from Reuters highlights the Top 10 Travel Destinations for spring this year, which were chosen by online travel adviser Travel Ticker. With the first day of spring coming up on March 20th – just a little more than one week away – vacationers are starting to plan their early getaways to escape the cabin fever and winter doldrums before the real tourist season kicks in from June through September.

Mexico’s stunning Riviera Maya made number seven on this year’s list, thanks to the excellent value, fabulous beaches and unique list of outdoor activities this vacation hotspot provides. Although destinations here include Cancun – which has long been a favorite among partygoers and the spring break crowd – there are also a wide variety of other options. In fact, even in Cancun, there are plenty of family-friendly activities and luxurious all-inclusive resorts that cater to couples that want to avoid the frenzied spring breakers.

In addition,if you head around 40 miles south of Cancun to Playa del Carmen, you will find a more low-key vacation destination with gorgeous beaches and plenty of upscale dining and shopping opportunities. Also known as Playa by locals and frequent visitors, this gem of a town has retained the feel of a small fishing village, yet offers every modern amenity.

And just about an hour south of Playa del Carmen real estate, vacationers can find the eco-chic vacation destination of Tulum, which is situated on the edge of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and offers access to ancient Mayan ruins, including a seaside pyramid.

To avoid the spring break crowds in the Riviera Maya,Travel Tickler advises planning your getaway for any time between mid-April and May. This is also the time when you will find the best deals, and the weather is absolutely perfect, which is an essential component of any beach vacation.
